NASTY GAL WOMEN’S DAY
For Women’s History Month, I curated, creative directed, wrote, and edited a content package for Nasty Gal that profiled over 20 female leaders in art, culture, music, education, and activism. The project was shot on large format film by artist Maya Fuhr in Los Angeles and New York.
Profiled women included Eileen Kelly, Caroline Vreeland, Diana Veras, Madame Ghandi, Maria Alia, Gloria Noto.
THEIR Quotes
“The first thing I kind of saw myself in was a Lane Bryant campaign when I was in college, and I remember being like, that’s going to be me. I had already spoken about my body issues at that time, but actually seeing that made me feel like everything I believed was valid and real.”
— Diana Veras, model“I’ve started to see shift is that women are using their power to create jobs and opportunities for other women. That’s the emphasis I think we really need to be focusing on now; instead of thinking of feminism in terms of how women can individually achieve more success.”
— - Elise Bauman, actor and activist“If I held onto the idea that a Muslim woman doesn’t belong in fashion or in front of the camera, then I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing. Find what you love and be your truest self.” -
